Executive Board
PresidentJames Clark
Senior Hospitality Business West Bloomfield, MI For the first time at the age of 12, James picked something up and put it down. Although he was very overweight during his prime years, he was surprisingly still able to maintain an athletic lifestyle playing many sports. At his peak weight, James was 265-270 Lbs. and decided that enough was enough. Even though he was eating like a bro, he decided to start small and cut out the “bad foods.” Once he was able to see his gains creeping up underneath the fat, he went through a positive mental and physical change. Today, James wants the best for everyone else. By using fitness as a medium, his main goal as president is to lead Spartan 300 members towards their own success, and to leave behind a legacy for future presidents to follow. Community CoordinatorRenell Shisha
Senior Psychology B.S. / Pre-Med Commerce, MI Renell grew up playing sports and got into lifting from conditioning practices during high school. Once college began, she started to take it a little more seriously wanting to get stronger and go deeper into the aspect of nutrition and well-being. She is a donut and legging enthusiast just as almost anyone should be. She feels, "Moderation is good, but only in moderation." She will work to further expand on campus presence and grow the club through various social platforms. Creativity is valued, so any ideas are highly encouraged! |
Vice PresidentJosh Opila
Senior Finance and Economics / Pre-Law Davison, MI Josh got involved with lifting shortly after coming to MSU in the Fall of 2014. It didn't take long for him to fall in love with the iron, constantly striving to learn more about all aspects of lifting, nutrition, competition, and more. He believes there is no better feeling than the one achieved when you study something and put the work in, and then see the results come to fruition. Lifting and dieting ingrains a level of discipline in oneself that is incomparable in his eyes. Director of EducationLauren McBroom
Senior Kinesiology Northville, MI She loves fitness, nutrition and working out at IM West. She is a NPC bikini competitor and a UFE elite fitness model competitor as well. She is always here to help if anyone has interest in competing or just about fitness in general! She's been coached and coached herself so she has learned quite a bit about nutrition in the past two years. Community ServiceRachel Light
Junior Accounting Plymouth, MI Rachel played soccer her whole life leading up to college. After learning that the “Freshman 15” is quite real, she learned to love cardio and shortly after got into weightlifting. Although results don’t show overnight, she loves seeing progress over time – it’s a true motivator. She enjoys cute puppies, eating Chipotle, and going to MSU sporting events. Her role in Spartan 300 is to plan and hold fun community service events that benefit organizations that members care about! |
